This weekend we didn't do anything crazy like snorkeling with whale sharks, hiked with only a flash light while it was getting dark, or ventured into an unknown cave! But, we had the opportunity to meet up with Baja Roots and connect.
Baja roots is an apparel company with the soul purpose of bringing a new crisp to the Baja Californian wear. They make legit ponchos, blankets, backpacks, and are in sink with the Baja culture and the environment. Their mission is to make their apparel as sustainable as possible while also making really good quality products.
Both, Ricardo and Carlos, got inspired because of their mutual respect and love for the ocean and the environment.
Ricardo got inspired after reading Let My People Go Surfing and Start Something that Matters. He was deeply inspired by these two books, which not only talk about doing business, but of the importance of making responsible and conscious business for the betterment of the human race and the environment, not the other way around.
Carlos, who is a chemist engineer, was inspired because of his deep connection with the ocean. He is concerned by the way the ocean is mistreated and by the lack of knowledge by the general population on how important the ocean's ecosystem is for our environment. He also explained that not only will Baja Roots create capital to support projects and organizations that help conserve our oceans, but that Baja Roots will serve as a voice to educate, encourage, and help spread the word of the importance of our oceans. After talking about Baja Roots and Baja Adventures, we decided to start taking some pictures, in order to create some content for both companies. All of the ponchos, backpacks, and blankets you see on the pictures are made by Baja Roots.
We started by taking pictures of Polo and Cisco, while Polo rode his bike. It was funny because Cisco was so happy, it seemed that he was thinking, "this has to be the best day of my life," but as we all know, dogs always think pretty hardcore when it comes to express emotions.
After taking some pictures on the road we started heading down towards the beach. It was a tiny crazy adventure because there was no trail, but you know, once in a while getting off the path is pretty cool!
After finishing with the photo sesh we continued our adventure and climbed all the way down to the beach. It was here that Carlos started explaining a little bit more about his and Ricardo's mission with Baja Roots. As you can see by my face we got pretty serious about the topic, we discussed the way our environment is being endangered, especially the ocean and how Baja Roots wanted to showcase and encourage people to be more connected to the ocean and informed about the dangers that are affecting it.
When we stopped talking we went ahead and took more pictures by the beach. It was here that we were sad to find out that there was a lot of trash on the beach, unfortunately we didn't bring any bags to take the trash with us, but from now on that will be on our gear list. Humans, please pack your "sheisse" out once you are done with it!
After the photo shoot we took a couple of minutes, sat down, chilled and enjoyed the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. I'm more of a mountains guy when it comes to outdoors, but I totally felt Carlos and Ricardo's calling for the ocean. There is just something soothing about it, something majestic and powerful about the ocean that brings any human to a sincere peace and respect towards its greatness.
Hope you enjoyed the piece, and remember, be aware and protect your planet!
