THIS IS THE TRIP FOR YOU!
DAY 1: Tijuana to San Quintín (oyster farms and local seafood).
Our trip begins in downtown San Diego (if you need special accommodations, please let us know). From here, we will embark on our private van to the charming town of San Quintín, which is 4 - 5 hours away from San Diego. As soon as we arrive at San Quintin we will drop off our bags at our hotel and head to the oyster farms in order to have a fresh & delicious tasting provided by the local fishermen.
After the tasting is over we will head back to the hotel and rest for a while and then we will get ready for a local dinner at the Old Mill Restaurant, named for the wheat mill established by the English colonists around the turn of the 19th century. Many pieces of the original machinery still remain on the premises. The Old Mill Restaurant is famous for its delicious Mexican style seafood and sight-seeing. In addition San Quintin´s Bay is a bird sanctuary where over 168 species winter each year. The location for tonight’s lodging affords magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean. Comfortable and spacious rooms provide the perfect place to relax after a long day of travel.
DAY 2: San Quintín to Bahía de Los Ángeles.
Wake up early to enjoy the sunrise with a light breakfast and continue our journey towards Bahía de Los Angeles. We will arrive directly at our hotel in Bahía de Los Angeles, in order to check in and have lunch. After eating, we will go to an astonishing beach at the Sea of Cortez where we will be able to do a quick walk & swim, as well as to enjoy breath-taking views of the coastline. We will enjoy the sunset with a heart-filling dinner and then head back to the hotel to rest for the following day.
DAY 3 - 5: Exploring the Sea of Cortez
Day three to five, we will wake up early, have breakfast and head to our private boat tour (5 hours per day). Our routing is designed with flexibility in mind to maximize opportunities for wildlife sightings. It will most likely include snorkeling, awe-inspiring hikes, astonishing beaches, and unique opportunities to lay down and rest after a day of exploration on the 16 islands and activities listed below (the order may vary).
-Snorkeling With Whale Sharks: Don't be afraid! This peaceful creature looks like a shark, but it is not dangerous. You are not part of their food chain, they are only looking for plankton and krill. Whale sharks are only located in several parts of the world, and fortunately, Bahia de Los Angeles is one of those places. Being with a whale shark is indeed a life-changing experience that needs to be shared with more people, so they may come down here and experience the majestic beauty of this creature.
-Snorkeling with sea lions: Have you ever swam with an entire colony of sea lions? If your answer is no, then you are in luck. Young inquisitive sea lions rush to the water as soon as they see you jump in. They pirouette below and around us in the water as their curiosity gets the better of them! The Calavera island is the home of this magnificent animal. After playing for a while with sea lions we will head to a secret arch in order to explore this island even further.
-Hiking: Part of the boat trip is to visit several islands that surround Bahia de Los Angeles. Each island has its own charm, they have trails to hike and if we are lucky, we will have the opportunity to enjoy the sighting of sailboats that sometimes appear on this remote islands.
Day 6: Departure day.
Head back home! On our way back to San Diego we will stop at El Rosario, where we will have lunch at Mama Espinoza’s Restaurant, home of the famous Crab Burritos & Burgers. We will then continue our journey back home and drop off everyone at the border in the afternoon.
